Floodlights, a Naarm/Melbourne-based band, have dropped their new single, ‘The Light Won’t Shine Forever’. It’s a delicate track that allows detailed guitar lines to combine with twinkling, melodic piano and huge, building drums. Above the eventual cacophony sits a poetic, almost spoken-word vocal performance that matches the grandeur of the track. “This song explores the fleeting nature of emotions - how joy is ephemeral, how hope can be ripped away and then found again,” they explain. “But all these feelings are part of our pursuit of what we love, whatever that may be.” The new album from Floodlights, Underneath, drops on March 21st, 2025, via [PIAS] Recordings. -Dan Peeke
